Mouse has her own Facebook blog

Just like Mouse was a peanut in her birth story on Facebook, she had a little "peanut" in her 2020 litter. I had to hand feed the pup around the clock for a couple weeks till she was ready to fend for herself.

Nutrition
Is an important part of the health & size of your puppy.
Feeding good food will help their coats, bones and backs develop properly. Dachshunds
DO NOT need extra weight on their backs.
I have used Purina nutrition for 29 years!
Purina puppy chow the first 14 - 16 months.
Then gently switch to Purina dog chow.
A nutritional lacking diet can often show up in problems such as allergies, overweight, no energy, underweight, and coat issues like itching, shedding, and patches of fur missing, just to name a few.

Always consult your veterinarian if any of these problems appear.

Potty Training

We start potty training within a few days after puppy's eyes come open, around two weeks of age.
We change their bed daily until they are completely using their papers.
If you leave a puppy in a soiled bed, it will feel this is okay and develop the habit of peeing in it's bed.
A hard habit to break, if you get a puppy without early potty training.
Doxidandi clients say their puppy was completely potty trained to their new home in 2 - 15 days following our tips.
Consistency is the key!

SWIMMING
Dachshunds can swim, it's true!
The sooner you introduce them to the water, the less likely they are to fear it.
Zilly adapted very quickly even as an adult!
Her camping trip turned out to be very fun for her new mom because they could participate in water activities together.
