Nutrition
Is an important part of the health & size of your puppy. Feeding good food will help their coats, bones and backs develop properly. Dachshunds DO NOT need extra weight on their backs. I have used Purina nutrition for 29 years! Purina puppy chow the first 14 - 16 months. Then gently switch to Purina dog chow. A nutritional lacking diet can often show up in problems such as allergies, overweight, no energy, underweight, and coat issues like itching, shedding, and patches of fur missing, just to name a few. Always consult your veterinarian if any of these problems appear. |
Potty Training
We start potty training within a few days after puppy's eyes come open, around two weeks of age.
We change their bed daily until they are completely using their papers.
If you leave a puppy in a soiled bed, it will feel this is okay and develop the habit of peeing in it's bed.
A hard habit to break, if you get a puppy without early potty training.
